LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - With all involved waiting for an announcement about whether "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off "Angel" stays behind on The WB next year, or follows its older sibling to a new home on UPN, it's still business as usual for the producers of the sophomore series.
Says David Greenwalt, the series' co-creator and executive producer (with "Buffy" creator Joss Whedon), "My thoughts are, we'll be in a good home either way. It's all good."

"Angel" stars David Boreanaz as a crusading vampire with a soul, who helps the helpless in Los Angeles, working with former "rogue demon hunter" Wesley (Alexis Denisof); aspiring actress Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), who suffers painful visions of people in trouble; and freelance vampire hunter Gunn (J. August Richards).

According to Greenwalt, producers have been lunching together all week, analyzing the past season and making plans for the future. "I think we did accomplish what we wanted to this year, which is to deepen the show and understand the history and background of our characters, particularly Angel, more than we had before, to bring him slowly, step by step, into the world of humans."

"I think Cordelia's character has deepened enormously, with her battle with how the visions affect her and hurt her. I love Gunn, but we must do more with him next year. We have some great ideas for him."
Greenwalt also reveals that there will be a new addition to the cast, appearing during the last three episodes of the season -- set in another dimension -- leading up to the May 22 finale. "Fred's a girl," he says, "played by Amy Acker. Fred's a smart girl, who's unfortunately been lost in another dimension for five years and is a little crazy."

The April 24 episode of "Angel" saw the departure of Lindsey McDonald (Christian Kane), a lawyer in the ultra-evil firm of Wolfram & Hart. In "Dead End," Lindsey got a transplanted hand -- to replace the one Angel cut off in an earlier conflict - and as a result, got a sobering look at just what his firm is capable of.
He ultimately quit, dumped his stuff in his ancient pickup truck and headed out of Los Angeles. Lindsey may be gone, but he's not forgotten, and he may come back.

"That was the completion of Lindsey's arc for this season," says Greenwalt, "and I do hope we're seeing a lot of him next year. That remains to be seen. It has to do with what's going on with his career, and what's going on with our show. He's starting to do a lot of movies."

"Angel" fans also got a taste in the same episode of the Oklahoma native's second career, as leader of the Southern rock band Kane. Seeking guidance, Lindsey played his guitar and sang in the show's otherworldly karaoke bar, where the demon Host (Andy Hallett) psychically reads the destinies of the performers.

"I'm a huge fan of Christian's," says Greenwalt, "and I also love his music. Last night's show included him singing a song written by yours truly, which was really fun. I want to do a musical show with Christian, post-'Angel.' So we'll just have to see what happens next year."

With or without Lindsey, Wolfram & Hart will go on. "There'll always be a Wolfram & Hart," says Greenwalt. "They are the over-arching villain because they are people that don't actually create wealth or create something, they simply broker deals."

Greenwalt is also hoping for a future guest appearance by Adrian Pasdar, who starred as an incredibly ruthless corporate shark in Greenwalt's short-lived Fox series "Profit." Pasdar currently stars as miracle-seeking anthropologist Declan Dunn on "Mysterious Ways," which airs regularly on PAX and occasionally on NBC.

"We've been dying to bring him to 'Angel,' " Greenwalt says. "It's a thing I've tried to work out a couple of times, and it's just a mammoth scheduling problem. But I would love to see him appear in Wolfram & Hart. It would make a lot of sense."
