Joss Wheden Holds Top Four (4) Spots…..

Hello my fellow Buffy and Angel fans. Just a quick note to inform you (as if you didn’t already know) that the top 4 spots in the comic book world are currently being held by Himself Joss Wheden and his creations. Top 4 are as follows and are based on popularity:

1)Buffy Season 8 - Issue 13
2) Angel Season 6 - Issue 6
3) Serenity - Issue 1
4) Angel Season 6 - Issue 5

Of the thousands and thousands of different comics out there available in this day and age it is simply amazing that our lead man Joss holds the top 4 slots based on popularity. Now who out there doesn’t believe that everything he touches turns to gold?

You continue to make us proud Joss, thank you for continuing to bring quality entertainment (or is it edutainment) to the masses, we ALL appreciate your hard work and hope you continue what you’re doing and change nothing. Well, except perhaps filming a Buffy movie once you finish with the 2nd Serenity* film.

I don’t know about you guys but it has taken awhile to digest the whole Buffy phenomenon and really recognise the impact it had on my life. It was such an exciting time, waiting anxiously for Tuesday nights when a new episode of Buffy was going to be running. Oh and when there was Buffy THEN Angel. Awesome. Even when I didn’t think they were that good they still were better than anything else I had come across at that time.

Starting up Slayage.com and running it for all those years had a enormous positive impact on my life as well. So much fun sharing all that with other fans like you and being part of the Buffy community.

I finally have the head space to start thinking creatively about the website again so I’m back to see what we can make out of it.

Well, as they say BRING IT ON!

Bronzers Reunited Party

Hi there,

I hope it’s ok to post this here, if not then please feel free to take it down. We’re just trying to reach as many Buffy fans as possible :D

BRONZERS REUNITED PARTY

The BRP - Bronzers Reunited Party - is a charity event to be held at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday the 16th of February 2008 to raise money for Equality Now.

In 1998 a wonderful committee arranged a gathering in LA for Bronzers from around the world to meet up and celebrate not only Buffy and Angel, but also a friendship created while simultaneously raising money for charity. As the show came to an end so did the parties.
So, in celebration of the wonderful times we had, a few of us Bronzers have decided to create a tenth anniversary reunion event in memory of the Posting Board Parties. We have aspired to keep the party as close to the original PBPs as possible (though it is not the PBP and no infringement is intended upon the committee who ran it).

The BRP itself will begin at 6pm. There will be a DJ playing music in between the evenings activities, however, not too loud so you can still chat to your fellow Jossverse fans! We have two fantastic bands playing for you: Darling Violetta & Four Star Mary! To raise as much money as possible we also have a charity auction with a number of amazing lots, perhaps the most exciting being Giles’ coat from the episode ‘The Gift’! We will also have a few stalls selling Bronzer related merchandise and, representing Equality Now, fireflystore.net

As with previous years VIPs have been invited, however, please be aware that we cannot guarantee attendance, they are not contracted to turn up - although we have had a very positive response so far!

The party will finish at midnight. We have arranged transport to and from the venue from the Renaissance Hotel - where we have acquired a special rate if you call and tell them you’re with the Bronzers Reunion.

There will also be a Pre-Party held the night before, Friday 15th of February, at L’Scorpion on Hollywood Blvd. As many of you may know, it’s owned by an ex-Buffy cast member! Entertainment will be provided, and it will be a great chance to meet up with your fellow attendees! We will also be holding a raffle with two winning prizes - access to the VIP room at the BRP!!! Please also be aware that the Pre-Party is for over 18s only as it is a night club - the BRP itself is open to all ages as long as under 18s are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We know not everybody can make the pre-party so we have two ticket prices;
$85 for just the BRP & $120 for both the Pre-Party & the BRP (only 250 of these are available).

If you are interested in attending, or just want some more information, then please visit http://www.sliqueevents.com to purchase your tickets via PayPal. However, we know that not everyone has PayPal, so, if you would like to pay by cheque then please contact

Joss has a new show!

Joss Whedon preps Fox series
‘Dollhouse’ to star ‘Buffy’s’ Eliza Dushku
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER

Joss Whedon is heading back to TV-- along with his “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” ingenue, Eliza Dushku.

Dushku will star in the Whedon-penned series “Dollhouse,” which has been given a seven-episode order by Fox. News came as an extra-big Halloween treat for Whedon fans, considered some of the most passionate in all of TV.

Produced by 20th Century Fox TV—the studio also behind “Buffy,” “Angel” and Whedon’s late, lamented “Firefly”—“Dollhouse” follows a top-secret world of people programmed with different personalities, abilities and memories depending on their mission.

After each assignment—which can be physical, romantic or even illegal—the characters have their memories wiped clean, and are sent back to a lab (dubbed the “Dollhouse"). Show centers on Dushku’s character, Echo, as she slowly begins to develop some self-awareness, which impacts her missions.

Whedon has already hammered out the basic outline for all seven segs. Barring a strike, Fox hopes to have the show in production by spring, giving the net an opportunity to be so far ahead of schedule by fall that it could potentially air a full season uninterrupted by breaks. Long lead time also gives Whedon, as well as the net and studio, plenty of time to evolve the show if need be.

“To be sitting here talking about episodes of a series in November; that’s exciting,” said Fox Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly. “I think we’re in great hands.”

Whedon said he wasn’t plotting a comeback to the smallscreen, having turned his attention back to features. But Dushku—who last toplined 20th’s and Fox’s “Tru Calling”—called up the scribe after sealing a talent deal with the studio and network this summer

“He’s my favorite genius,” Dushku said. “And my favorite friend. He’s been like a big brother ... and the only person out here I’ve ever wholeheartedly trusted, because he’s never let me down.”

What was originally simply a lunch to meet up and discuss Dushku’s career options soon turned into a partnership, as Whedon threw out a random concept Dushku loved.

That germ of an idea turned into “Dollhouse.”

“It was a mistake!” Whedon said. “I sat down with her to talk about her options, and acted all sage, saying things backwards like Yoda and laying out what I thought she should do. But in the course of doing it, I accidentally made one up. I told it to her, and she said, ‘That’s exactly what I want to do.’ “

Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Liguori had been pursuing Whedon about making a return to TV for some time, and said he couldn’t believe his luck when Dushku brought him in the door.

“There was a lot of work and serendipity that came into this,” said Liguori, who bought off-net runs of “Buffy” back when he ran FX. “Fortunately for him, his movie career was quite fertile, and he was only going to do something in TV that he felt quite passionately about. The guy has two unbelievable skills that are so rare: He’s totally innovative creatively, and he’s a terrific showrunner.”

As a result, Whedon is suddenly once again donning the titles of exec producer-showrunner-creator-writer—a job he didn’t think he’d once again assume so quickly, particularly after the cancellations of “Angel” and “Firefly.”

And because she helped convince Whedon to sign on to the project—and had a hand in its creation—Dushku will serve as a producer on the show.

“It’s exciting to know that my voice and who I am as Eliza is going to be in this show every single week,” she said. “I’m ready to take control of the person I want to be in this business.”

Whedon said he and Dushku hammered out an idea they believed would showcase the thesp’s wide range (having done comedy, like the feature “Bring It On,” in addition to drama).

“She’s someone who gets pigeonholed as doing one thing, but she’s constantly changing and could do anything,” Whedon said. “I said to her, do you want to do the same thing for seven years? This show comes from her particular circumstance. We can take this show to a lot of different places.”

Dushku agreed—and said she could relate to the idea of people’s lives constantly being scrutinized, and being told who you should be.

“As actors, we’re expected to play characters, and in a way it feels like people are trying to download the latest trend into a Hollywood actress and make them like everyone else,” she said. “I even love my character’s name, Echo. And I’m starting my training, so I can get into that ‘Dark Angel’-on-crack shape where I can do everything.”

20th Century Fox TV chairman Gary Newman said the “Dollhouse” pitch reminded him of an earlier time, when Whedon brought the “Buffy” universe into being.

“He’s creating this fascinating universe that’s a little bit out of the ordinary,” Newman said. “The emotions and experiences play beautifully as metaphors for real issues. ... His ability to combine suspense, humor, action and emotion is remarkable.”

It’s not the first time Whedon and Dushku have plotted to work together; the duo briefly flirted with creating a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff featuring her character, Faith. But the two ultimately decided not to pursue the idea.

Beyond Dushku’s character, the show will also revolve around the people who run the mysterious “dollhouse” and two other “dolls,” a man and woman who are friendly with Echo. Then there’s the federal agent who has heard an urban myth about the dolls, and is trying to investigate their existence.

“He’s got an unbelievably loyal following, and that’s an earned brand,” Liguori said. “So much of it is based on Joss’ love of what he does and the genius of how he does it.”

OK, well first let me introduce myself. I have never been to this site before. I
came across this site when doing a search. With such a cool name how could I
not check it out. I actually never watched Buffy or Angel when they were on TV. I
started watching them on DVD about 2 years ago. I liked Angel a lot but I am obsessed with
Buffy. A truly incredible show. Season one was a little rough at first but wow what
incredible stuff lay ahead.

Anyway, has anyone seen Once More With Feeling in a theater?
http://uncoolkids.com/buffy/
I did. It was one of the best times of my life. No kidding.

Before Anthony participated in “The Musical” I was pretty shocked when he sang Behind Blue Eyes and Free Bird!. Then came the awesome lyrics paired with his voice in The Musical. Amazed, I started looking for more songs or covers sung by him. I became disappointed after hearing Music For Elevators and a couple of other songs. It’s not that they’re bad, it’s just not the kind of music I would like to hear him sing. He has such a potential to make an album with unplugged covers to really make his voice shine. I wish he could at least re record the whole Behind Blue Eyes and Free Bird songs. So, who’s with me?

You said you don’t like playing the same character twice. Does that mean you wouldn’t do a sequel to “Ice Princess?” What about the possibility of a “Buffy” movie?

I’m sure that there was tons of talk. I’d heard something here and there. The thing that I never want to play a character again… I don’t mean any disrespect for the creators and producers of my previous projects because I never pick a project carelessly. I always have some heart attached to it. “Buffy” was my all-time favorite show before I was on it. So I loved Dawn. She was an awesome character and that was where I was at that point in my life. I was, you know, 14-17, which is hugely different. I’m almost 20 now. I’ll be 20 in October, so reprising a character is something… Never say never. As opposed to a sequel for this — the story would have to be amazing because I really feel so proud of what we have on the screen right now. It’s not a Disney kitschy movie. It’s a heartfelt, loving story. And to have anything less than that as a sequel would be doing a disservice to the original story. So you never know.

What if “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon came up with an idea for a “Buffy” movie in which Dawn was in a completely different place and much older? Would you be interested then?

You never know. Again, like I said, you’d have to see the material and also I have so many projects that I want to do right now after “Ice Princess” and all that, that you have to make sure it fits into that vein because I believe every actor’s path is sort of set. You don’t want to veer too much away from moving on and growing as an actor.
